What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores whether short educational videos can enhance the experience and efficiency of pediatric cardiology visits. The videos explain common heart-related conditions, aiming to help families better understand their child's condition and make clinic visits smoother. Researchers compare clinic visits before and after introducing these room-based educational videos, which cover topics like Murmur, Chest Pain, Sports Clearance, Kawasaki, General, Syncope, and Palpitations. They aim to determine if the videos improve understanding, increase satisfaction, and reduce repetitive explanations by doctors. Children visiting a pediatric cardiology clinic and their caregivers might be a good fit, especially if they are there for conditions like chest pain or fainting. The study is low-risk and does not involve any new drugs or devices. As an unphased trial, this study offers a unique opportunity to contribute to improving healthcare experiences without the risks associated with new treatments.

What prior data suggests that these educational videos are safe for pediatric cardiology visits?

Research has shown that educational videos about children's heart health effectively help patients understand their conditions. Many healthcare settings use these videos to assist children and their families in learning about heart issues, covering topics like chest pain, heart murmurs, and other common concerns.

These videos are safe because they involve no physical treatments or medications, providing information in an easy-to-understand, visual way. As a result, there are no side effects or risks. Past experiences with these videos indicate that children and their families find them helpful and easy to watch.

Overall, educational videos in children's heart care present very low risk. They serve as a useful tool to make medical visits more informative and less stressful.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about these educational videos because they offer a unique way to improve pediatric cardiology visits by enhancing patient understanding and engagement. Unlike traditional information delivery methods like pamphlets or verbal explanations, these videos provide visual and auditory learning, which can be more effective for kids. By covering specific topics such as murmur, chest pain, syncope, palpitations, sports clearance, Kawasaki disease, and general cardiology information, the videos can tailor learning to the child's specific condition. This approach not only aids in better comprehension but also empowers young patients and their families to actively participate in their healthcare journey.

What evidence suggests that these educational videos are effective for improving pediatric cardiology visits?

Research has shown that educational videos can help families understand heart conditions in children. Studies have found that these videos increase knowledge and satisfaction for families visiting pediatric heart clinics. In this trial, participants will divide into groups to watch specific educational videos. For example, Group A will watch videos about chest pain and heart murmurs, explaining these common, usually not serious, conditions. Group B will view videos about syncope and palpitations, making these issues easier to understand. Group C will watch videos on sports clearance and Kawasaki disease, providing important information and helping families feel more involved in health decisions. Overall, these videos aim to improve understanding and make clinic visits more efficient.46789
