What is the purpose of this trial?

This study will evaluate the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of the novel Resilient Together for Dementia (RT-D) intervention for couples following dementia diagnoses. The primary target is emotional distress, and the program aims to prevent chronic distress in at-risk couples.

Eligibility Criteria

This trial is for couples where one partner has been recently diagnosed with dementia after age 65, shows early-stage symptoms, and both are aware of their condition. They must live together, speak English, be adults over 18 years old, and at least one partner should have significant emotional distress.

Inclusion Criteria

My assessment shows early stage dementia.
My partner or I am experiencing significant emotional distress.
I understand my health issues and can grasp the study details.

Timeline

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

Screening clinic visits

Treatment

Participants receive the Resilient Together for Dementia intervention or a minimally enhanced educational control over live video

6-8 weeks
Weekly live video sessions

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for emotional distress and quality of life outcomes after treatment
