Bingo Educational Game for Cancer Awareness
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial aims to increase cancer awareness and participation in clinical trials among African American/Black communities through an engaging BINGO game, an educational activity. The game offers a relaxed setting to share important information about cancer and the workings of clinical trials. Participation helps improve the diversity of clinical trial participants, ensuring treatments are effective across different populations. Individuals who identify as cisgender, transgender, or female and can understand English at a middle school level are welcome to join. As an unphased trial, this study provides a unique opportunity to contribute to important research and community health education.
Will I have to stop taking my current medications?
The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It seems to focus on educational activities rather than medical interventions, so it's unlikely that you would need to change your medication routine.
What prior data suggests that this educational game is safe?
A previous study showed that digital games can raise cancer awareness and improve health habits without causing harm. These educational games are easy to use and have no reported negative effects. The BINGO game aims to teach people about cancer and clinical trials in a fun and relaxed way, making it a safe choice for participants. As Bingo is a non-invasive learning activity, it poses no known safety risks. Participants can play this game without worrying about side effects, as the main goal is to build trust and increase awareness.12345
Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about the Bingo Educational Game for cancer awareness because it offers a unique approach to educating people about cancer, using a fun and engaging format. Unlike traditional educational methods like pamphlets or lectures, this game creates an interactive experience that can make learning more enjoyable and memorable. By potentially increasing knowledge retention and awareness through play, it aims to empower participants with vital information about cancer prevention and early detection. This method could revolutionize how we approach health education, making it more accessible and impactful.
What evidence suggests that this Bingo educational game is effective for increasing cancer awareness?
Research has shown that educational games, like BINGO, effectively increase cancer awareness. In this trial, all participants will engage in the Bingo Educational Game as an intervention. Studies have found that these games help people, especially in minority groups, learn more about cancer and clinical trials. By making the information fun and engaging, these games build trust and improve understanding of cancer topics. Raising awareness is important because it encourages more diverse participation in clinical trials. This involvement ensures that research results are relevant to everyone.12346
