CBC for Emotional Disturbance
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial evaluates a program called Conjoint Behavioral Consultation (CBC) to assess its effectiveness in real-world settings. CBC aims to assist children with serious emotional and behavior problems by fostering a partnership between families and schools. The trial compares the usual school support with the CBC approach, focusing on its effects on students, parents, and teachers. Children in kindergarten through fourth grade, identified as having significant emotional or behavioral issues, may be suitable participants. As an unphased trial, this study provides a unique opportunity for families to contribute to innovative educational support strategies.
Will I have to stop taking my current medications?
The trial information does not specify whether participants need to stop taking their current medications.
What prior data suggests that the Conjoint Behavioral Consultation (CBC) intervention is safe for children with emotional and behavior problems?
Research has shown that Conjoint Behavioral Consultation (CBC) is generally easy for participants to handle. Studies have found that CBC improves social skills, behavior, and school performance in students with emotional and behavioral challenges. These studies have not reported any major negative side effects, indicating that participants have not experienced significant problems.
Additional research highlights positive outcomes, such as improved relationships between students, parents, and teachers, without raising safety concerns. As a behavioral approach rather than a medication or medical procedure, CBC usually carries a lower risk of harmful effects. This makes CBC a safe choice for those considering trials focused on children's emotional and behavioral issues.12345Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Conjoint Behavioral Consultation (CBC) is unique because it focuses on collaboration between school staff, families, and teachers to address emotional disturbances in students. Unlike traditional approaches that may involve separate interventions by teachers or counselors, CBC creates a team-based strategy to tackle behavioral issues together. Researchers are excited about this method because it emphasizes a holistic, community-based approach, potentially offering more personalized support and better outcomes for students compared to standard interventions.
What evidence suggests that the Conjoint Behavioral Consultation (CBC) intervention is effective for emotional disturbance?
Research has shown that Conjoint Behavioral Consultation (CBC) helps children with serious emotional and behavioral issues. In this trial, some participants will join the CBC Treatment Group, where school staff will use the CBC model to collaborate with families and teachers. Studies have found that CBC, which involves cooperation between families and schools, leads to positive outcomes for students. Specifically, children in CBC programs have demonstrated improvements in social skills, emotional well-being, and behavior. Teachers and parents have also observed better academic performance and increased involvement in school activities. The evidence supports CBC as a promising method to assist children at risk for severe emotional problems.12678
