What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This pilot mixed-method study will evaluate the feasibility, preliminary efficacy, and user experience of a home-based wearable Focal Vibration Therapy (FVT) intervention for improving upper extremity (UEx) function in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Fifteen adults with relapsing-remitting MS (PRMS) and self-reported UEx impairments will participate in a 4-week FVT program using MyovoltTM wearable FVT devices applied to arm muscles.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for adults with relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis who have trouble with arm functions. It's a small study to see if wearing a vibration device on the arm helps improve movement and strength.

Inclusion Criteria

I experience issues with my arm or hand, such as weakness, stiffness, or pain.
I am over 18 years old.
I have been diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS.

Exclusion Criteria

Evidence of cognitive impairment that could interfere with following instructions (Mini-Montreal Cognitive Assessment score (Mini-MoCA) < 12)
I don't have conditions that make vibration therapy unsafe for me.
I don't have severe nerve or mental health issues that could affect my arms.

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

2-4 weeks

Treatment

Participants undergo a 4-week Focal Vibration Therapy (FVT) program using MyovoltTM wearable devices applied to arm muscles

4 weeks
Home-based, monitored via MyoVolt app

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for safety and effectiveness after treatment, including assessments of motor function and usability

4 weeks
In-person assessments at week 4 and week 8

What Are the Treatments Tested in This Trial?

Interventions

  • Wearable Focal Vibration Therapy

Trial Overview

The study tests wearable Focal Vibration Therapy (FVT) using MyovoltTM devices on the arms of participants. Over four weeks, it will assess how feasible this therapy is at home and its potential benefits for arm function in MS patients.
