What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores how a virtual care program called Lin Health can assist in managing fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by widespread pain and fatigue. It compares two groups: one receiving both usual care from the Mayo Clinic and Lin Health interventions, and the other receiving only usual care. This trial suits adults diagnosed with fibromyalgia who are already receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and can participate in English. As an unphased trial, it provides a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research that could enhance fibromyalgia management.

Do I need to stop my current medications for the trial?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It's best to discuss this with the trial coordinators or your doctor.

What prior data suggests that these behavioral health techniques are safe for fibromyalgia patients?

Research has shown that Lin Health provides a safe way to help people with fibromyalgia. Lin Health uses an online program to manage symptoms and reduce pain. Studies have found that these behavioral techniques are usually easy for people to handle. No major reports of negative side effects from Lin Health have emerged, suggesting it is safe for most people with fibromyalgia.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about Lin Health for fibromyalgia because it integrates behavioral health techniques with Mayo Clinic's standard care. Unlike traditional treatments that focus primarily on medication and physical therapy, Lin Health emphasizes a holistic approach, combining psychological support and lifestyle modifications. This method targets the mind-body connection, which could potentially enhance pain management and improve overall quality of life for those with fibromyalgia. By offering a more comprehensive approach, Lin Health may address underlying issues that typical treatments might overlook.

What evidence suggests that Lin Health is effective for fibromyalgia?

Research has shown that Lin Health, which participants in this trial may receive as part of the experimental group, may help reduce fibromyalgia symptoms. A 2023 study found that using Lin Health led to a 45% decrease in pain intensity, comparable to the best treatments available. Lin Health also improves overall quality of life, pain levels, and sleep for people with fibromyalgia. These findings suggest that Lin Health could effectively manage fibromyalgia symptoms.678910
