The masseter muscle is one of the muscles in the lower face used for chewing. The prominence of the masseter muscle can appear as a widened lower face which some individuals deem as aesthetically undesirable and can be treated by selectively weakening the masseter muscles with small quantities of botulinum toxin. The purpose of this study is to assess how safe and effective injection of onabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX) is in adult participants with Masseter Muscle Prominence (MMP). BOTOX is being investigated for the treatment of Muscle Masseter Prominence. In Period 1, participants are placed in 1 of 2 groups, called treatment arms. Each group receives a different treatment, placebo or BOTOX. There is a 1 in 4 chance that participants will be assigned to placebo. In Period 2, eligible participants can receive an optional open-label retreatment of BOTOX. Approximately 200 adult participants with MMP will be enrolled in the study at approximately 20 sites in the United States. Participants will receive intramuscular injections across both the right and left masseter muscle of either BOTOX or placebo on Day 1. Participants who are eligible for re-treatment will be given BOTOX injections on either the Day 180, 210, 240, or 270 visit and will be followed up for up to 6 months. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular monthly visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, checking for side effects, and completing questionnaires.

Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS) is a chronic and debilitating urological complex of disorders characterized by symptoms of bladder pain or discomfort, mostly upon bladder filling, and often accompanied by lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). This study will assess how safe and effective BOTOX (onabotulinumtoxinA) is in treating IC/BPS. Adverse events and change in disease symptoms will be evaluated. BOTOX (onabotulinumtoxinA) is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS). Study doctors randomly assign the participants to 1 of 2 groups, called treatment arms, to receive BOTOX or placebo. There is a 1 in 2 chance that participants will be assigned to placebo. Approximately 80 female participants, aged 18 to 75 years, with a diagnosis of IC/BPS will be enrolled in approximately 40 sites in the United States and Canada. Participants will receive BOTOX or placebo injected into the bladder on Day 1 and will be followed for at least 12 weeks in treatment 1. Eligible participants may request additional dose of BOTOX between Weeks 12 and 24, and will be followed for 12 weeks in treatment period 2. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

The goal of this pragmatic, registry-based, randomized clinical trial is to find out if using botulinum toxin (Botox) to help drain the stomach during an esophagectomy works as well as a pyloromyotomy in patients undergoing elective esophagectomy for benign or malignant esophageal disease. Both methods are intended to prevent problems with food emptying too slowly from the stomach (delayed gastric emptying), which can cause discomfort after surgery. The main question it aims to answer is: Is intrapyloric Botox injection as a drainage procedure during esophagectomy non-inferior in preventing symptoms of delayed gastric emptying at 6 months postoperatively compared to pyloromyotomy? Researchers will compare intrapyloric Botox injection to pyloromyotomy to see if Botox is non-inferior to pyloromyotomy in easing symptoms of delayed gastric emptying. Participants will: Be randomized to one of two treatment groups-either intrapyloric Botox injection or pyloromyotomy-during their esophagectomy. Complete surveys assessing digestive symptoms at standard postoperative follow-up intervals (3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years postoperatively). Undergo a standard gastric emptying study at 6 months after surgery.

Lavender Aromatherapy for Anxiety

Chemodenervation of the bladder with onabotulinum toxin A is an effective treatment option for patients with refractory urgency urinary incontinence (UUI). It is often performed as an office-based procedure under local anesthesia. Alternatively, it can be performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. The ability to receive intra-detrusor chemodenervation in the office allows patients to avoid the risks associated with general anesthesia and is significantly more cost effective. The procedure, however, is painful and can be anxiety provoking for patients; especially given that patients typically return every six to nine months for repeat injections. Relaxation and distraction techniques are one way to ease patients' anxiety before an office-based procedure. While we do not know exactly how anxiety provoking office bladder chemodenervation is for patients, we do know that anxiety disorders are highly prevalent in women with overactive bladder as a population. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether women with Urge urinary incontinence (UUI) who receive office intra-detrusor chemodenervation injections performed in a relaxing environment of lavender aromatherapy, calming music, dim lighting, and modest positioning (Relaxing Environment Package) will have decreased anxiety and pain as well as increased post-procedure satisfaction compared to patients who receive chemodenervation in a typical office environment. Also investigate whether exposure to the relaxing environment impacts the well-being of staff involved in these procedures. This study design is a randomized control trial. Women scheduled for office intra-detrusor chemodenervation at Atrium Health women's Care Urogynecology \& Pelvic Surgery - Mercy clinic will be invited to participate. Participants will be randomized to the relaxing environment package or the placebo group after informed consent is obtained and immediately before undergoing intra-detrusor chemodenervation. The participants will complete the pre-procedure visual analog scale (VAS) for anxiety and a VAS for pain at baseline.

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn more about using phenazopyridine (Pyridium) for pain control during bladder onabotulinumtoxinA ("botox") injections for surgical management of overactive bladder (OAB) for patients at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx. It will also learn about if using the phenazopyridine pill affects how satisfied patients are with their experience, how much pain patients feel afterwards, and if doctors think using the Pyridium pill affected how they performed the procedure. The main question it aims to answer is: - Is oral phenazopyridine at least as good as intravesical lidocaine is for managing pain with bladder botox injections for OAB in Montefiore patients? Researchers will compare phenazopyridine to intravesical lidocaine, a liquid put into the bladder, to see if phenazopyridine is at least as good at controlling pain with bladder botox injections as intravesical lidocaine is. Participants will be assigned, by chance, to receive either the oral phenazopyridine pill or the intravesical lidocaine as their pain control for the procedure.

Intradetrusor injection of onabotulinumtoxinA, which is performed through a cystoscopic procedure, has been demonstrated to be efficacious in the treatment of both neurogenic and non-neurogenic overactive bladder (OAB), and is FDA approved as a treatment for overactive bladder. Intradetrusor of onabotulinumtoxinA is currently standard of care of patients with OAB who have persistent OAB symptoms despite behavioral therapies and oral medication treatments for OAB. As one of the main adverse events associated with intradetrusor injection of onabotulinumtoxinA is UTI, and published guidelines for cystoscopic procedures with manipulation recommend the use of prophylactic antibiotics, a single dose of prophylactic antibiotic is administered prior to this procedure. However, these recommendations are primarily based on data from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving antimicrobial prophylaxis during transurethral resection of the prostate. A previously published prospective study demonstrated that the rate of post-procedural UTI did not differ amongst patients with neurogenic bladder who did not receive prophylactic antibiotics and were asymptomatic for UTI, regardless of whether they had sterile urine cultures or asymptomatic bacteriuria, suggesting that patients who are not symptomatic for UTI may not require antibiotic prophylaxis prior to intradetrusor onabotulinumtoxinA injection. Studies have reported that up to 50% of antibiotic usage is inappropriate, leading to unnecessary exposure of patients to potential complications of antibiotic therapy, including Clostridium difficile infection which can cause recurrent diarrhea that may progress to sepsis and death, increasing antibiotic resistances, as well as dermal/allergic and gastro-intestinal manifestations. Therefore, in an effort to optimize antibiotic use, the investigators propose a prospective, randomized study to formally evaluate the differences in UTI frequency in subjects who have a negative urinalysis and are not symptomatic for UTI and receive prophylactic antibiotics at the time of intradetrusor onabotulinumtoxinA injection compared to those who do not receive prophylactic antibiotics at the time of injection. The proposed study seeks to evaluate the current practice standard of antibiotic prophylaxis prior to intradetrusor onabotulinumtoxin injection.

This initial study was in the context of facial aesthetics. The purpose of the present study is to determine the effect, if any, of oral zinc supplementation prior to BT in the treatment of spasmodic dysphonia. The goal of this clinical trial is to see if patients deciding their own follow up times can increase the effectiveness of botulinum toxin (BTX or "Botox") injection for overactive bladder (OAB). The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does the time between repeat injections differ from the 6-month standard when it is based on patient symptoms alone? * Does symptom control or patient satisfaction change when patients control their own follow up times? Injection of Botox into the bladder is a procedure used to treat neurogenic overactive bladder at the Dianne and Irving Kipnes Urology Centre in the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. A common complication following bladder Botox is bladder infection. There are no well-studied preventative antibiotics given at the time of bladder Botox for the reduction of post-operative bladder infection. We are proposing a research study that will randomize participants into two groups - one receiving antibiotics and the other receiving placebo pills following bladder Botox. The main goal of our study is to determine if preventative antibiotics at the time of bladder Botox injection reduces post-operative bladder infection. It will provide a valuable learning opportunity for a trainee starting their academic career through working closely with established researchers across two disciplines. We hope the results of our study can ultimately be used to improve outcomes and safety for a common Urologic procedure. In addition, findings from our study could help reduce unnecessary use of antibiotics resulting in cost savings in the health care system and reduction in the risk of antibiotic resistance.

The purpose of this prospective single-center, blinded\*, randomized, proof-of-concept study is to determine whether OnabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX®) injections will change the level of stress perceived by generally healthy adult female participants. It is hypothesized that BOTOX® injections will be associated with decreases in perceived stress levels, measured by scores on the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire. The primary outcome measure is a chronological decrease in PSS scores between any two points of the study period. Comparison of the placebo- and BOTOX®-treated participant scores will either support or disprove the study hypothesis. Qualified participants who meet the study requirements, including a one-time completion of basic laboratory testing before treatment. The treatment visit starts on day-1 of a 12-week period, which consists a total of four clinic visits and one online visit, which involve: * vital signs and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements * basic/interval history and physical * 2 Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaires * injection of 64 units of either BOTOX® or sterile salt solution * stay for 60-minutes after treatment for monitoring and to complete study tasks

The investigators would like to improve our understanding of how early intervention with the use of bladder chemodenervation can preserve bladder function in those with a new SCI. Although detrimental cystometric and tissue changes are known to occur, often within 3 months after SCI, the investigators seek to document the time course of these changes and the range of severity of those changes in both those participants that receive prophylactic treatment and those who do not.

How much do Botox clinical trials pay?

Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do Botox clinical trials work?

After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. Across Botox trials 30% of clinical trials have a placebo. Typically, you'll be required to check-in with the clinic every month or so. The average trial length for Botox is 12 months.

How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?

Not all studies recruit healthy volunteers: usually, Phase 1 studies do. Participating as a healthy volunteer means you will go to a research facility several times over a few days or weeks to receive a dose of either the test treatment or a "placebo," which is a harmless substance that helps researchers compare results. You will have routine tests during these visits, and you'll be compensated for your time and travel, with the number of appointments and details varying by study.

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a Botox medical study?

Clinical trials are almost always free to participants, and so do not require insurance. The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental.
