Study Summary

This trial will provide education, support and food to a diverse and high-risk population with diabetes or at risk of developing diabetes.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 who use a food pantry, have diabetes or high HbA1c levels indicating diabetes, and can consent to participate. They must speak English or Spanish and have a mobile device for text messages. It's not for those under 18, without diabetes, unable to consent, lacking mobile access, or speaking other languages.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests a program combining diabetes self-management education with support (DSMES) and nutrition aid at a food pantry. Participants will learn through web modules in English/Spanish about managing diabetes and receive texts, group sessions, peer mentorship by health professionals for 12 weeks while getting suitable food.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves education and nutritional guidance rather than medication, typical drug side effects are not expected. However, participants may experience lifestyle adjustment challenges or stress related to new dietary habits.
