Acupuncture Trial Summary

This trial will study the effects of acupuncture on blood pressure and heart rate variability.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for men and women with mild high blood pressure, specifically those with systolic BP between 130-165 mmHg and diastolic BP between 90-120 mmHg. It's not open to people taking medications or supplements that affect blood pressure, nor to those with pacemakers, pregnant individuals, or anyone with heart, kidney, thyroid disorders; diabetes; chronic diseases; neurological conditions; skin or bleeding disorders.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is examining the impact of needle acupuncture on managing high blood pressure and altering heart rate variability by targeting specific acupuncture points. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either real acupuncture or a sham (fake) needle treatment as a comparison.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Acupuncture may cause minor side effects such as bruising at the needle site, slight bleeding, dizziness during treatment. The sham procedure should have minimal risks since it mimics acupuncture without penetrating the skin.
