Study Summary

This trial is testing a low-carb diet to see how it affects weight, heart health, and blood sugar.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 who are obese (BMI > 30kg/m2) and have had a liver transplant at least one year ago. It's not suitable for those with post-transplant cancer, active hepatitis B or C, severe kidney disease, recent organ rejection, untreated bile or blood vessel problems after the transplant, uncontrolled diabetes, or relapsed alcohol abuse.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests how a low carbohydrate diet (LCD) affects energy use and cardiovascular health in liver transplant patients over six months. Participants will either follow this special diet or continue with their usual eating habits as a control group.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects of an LCD may include fatigue due to lower sugar intake, digestive changes like constipation from reduced fiber intake, bad breath from ketosis, and possible nutrient deficiencies if not properly managed.
