Study Summary

This trial will compare one cortisone injection to two injections for the treatment of trigger finger.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with trigger finger, a painful condition where the finger gets stuck in a bent position. Participants must be able to consent and have not had surgery for trigger finger before.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study aims to find out if one or two cortisone injections provide better relief for trigger finger. It's set up so that patients are randomly chosen to receive either one shot or two shots of cortisone.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Cortisone injections may cause pain at the injection site, changes in skin color, infection, tendon weakening or rupture, and flare-up of symptoms.

Study Objectives

Primary outcome measures
To determine if there is a difference in the incidence of pain, stiffness, clicking or locking at 6 months following final injection
Secondary outcome measures
To evaluate treatment response among diabetic patients
To evaluate treatment response between nodular versus diffuse tenosynovitis
To evaluate treatment response between thumbs and fingers
