PSD Trial Summary

This trial studies the effects of electrical stimulation to the brain on depression in stroke patients.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with a BMI of 18-35 who have had a stroke, are moderately depressed (with specific score ranges on depression scales), and may have cognitive impairments post-stroke. It's not for those using certain drugs, with skin issues where electrodes go, electrical implants in the body, pregnant women, low IQ suspicion, severe pain conditions, bipolar/schizophrenia history or recent severe mental health or substance use disorders.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests how transcranial current stimulation (tES) and transcutaneous direct current stimulation (tsDCS) affect brain activity and thinking skills in people with depression after a stroke. Participants will receive non-invasive brain stimulation to see if it can improve their mood and cognitive function.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects from tES/tsDCS include discomfort at the electrode site, itching or tingling during stimulation, headache, fatigue, nausea. There might also be temporary changes in cognition or mood.

Frequently Asked Questions

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

Who would be the most suitable candidates for this research?

"This clinical trial is seeking 15 individuals who have recently experienced a stroke and are currently suffering from post-stroke depression. To qualify, patients must be between 18 and 80 years of age with a body mass index (BMI) ranging from 18 to 35 kg/m2. Additionally, they must demonstrate moderate depression according to the MADRS scale (18-28), PHQ9 score (10-20) or cognitive impairment as results of their stroke event."

Answered by AI

Are there any vacancies remaining in this clinical trial?

"Based on the clinicaltrials.gov, this medical investigation is currently open for enrolment. This research opportunity was first published in September 28th 2022 and recently updated on November 4th 2022."

Answered by AI

How many participants has this research endeavor recruited thus far?

"Affirmative. The information found on clinicaltrials.gov reveals that this experiment, which was originally posted in late September 2022, is actively accepting participants. Fifteen individuals are required from a single medical facility to complete the trial."
