Study Summary

This trial will study if a dry-needling technique can help relieve pain, increase mobility, and decrease disability for patients with headaches originating from the neck.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with cervicogenic headaches, which are one-sided neck-originating pains that spread to the head and worsen with neck movement. Participants should have these headaches at least once a week for more than three months and some neck joint dysfunction. Those with mild pain, recent whiplash, ongoing lawsuits related to their condition, or contraindications to the treatments cannot join.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if superficial dry needling in the trigeminal nerve area can reduce pain and improve neck function in people with cervicogenic headaches. It also looks at how stress and mood might affect treatment outcomes. The comparison group receives non-thrust mobilizations only.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Superficial dry needling may cause minor bleeding or bruising at needle sites, temporary soreness, or an increase in headache symptoms initially.
