Study Summary

This trial will study whether the EEG could be used to identify drug effects in suspected overdose patients in the ED setting.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 who come to the emergency department suspected of using drugs or alcohol. It's not for those with unstable vital signs, head injuries that prevent EEG placement, prisoners, employees or students at study sites, people with dementia or mental impairments, or skin conditions on the forehead.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is observing brain activity through EEG monitoring in patients suspected of drug overdose. The goal is to see if different substances affect brain waves in a way that could help doctors quickly identify what someone has taken.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this is an observational study involving non-invasive EEG monitoring, there are minimal side effects expected. However, some discomfort from wearing the EEG leads on the forehead might occur.
