Parenting Interventions for Early Childhood Development
Study Summary
This trial tests an integrated approach to promoting school readiness in low-income families, beginning shortly after the child's birth. The intervention is delivered through the pediatric primary care platform and includes two evidence-based interventions: 1) a universal primary prevention strategy (Video Interaction Project [VIP]); and 2) a targeted secondary/tertiary prevention strategy (Family Check-up [FCU]) for families with infants/toddlers identified as having additional risks.

- I have a condition affecting my brain development or muscle control, like seizures or small head size.The baby has serious medical problems.My family and I met with the study team for a follow-up when my child was between 10 days and 6 weeks old.My birth weight was under 2500 grams.The doctor is worried about the baby's ability to hear or see.My baby needed intensive care after birth for serious health issues.I was eligible for early intervention services at birth.I have a known or suspected significant genetic abnormality.You have a known sensory impairment.My family can be reached by phone.My baby will not be discharged to me or the other parent.My mother has a condition that makes communication difficult.
- Group 1: VIP/FCU
- Group 2: Control
- No Placebo-Only Group - All patients enrolled in this study will receive some form of active treatment.
- Screening: It may take up to 3 Weeks to process to see if you qualify in this trial.
- Treatment: The duration you will receive the treatment varies.
- Follow Ups: You may be asked to continue sharing information regarding the trial for 6 Months after you stop receiving the treatment.
