Study Summary
This trial is investigating whether reducing air pollution at home can decrease inflammation biomarkers. 74 adults with hypertension will use portable air cleaners at home for 4 weeks and researchers will measure biomarker concentrations before and after.

- You can check your blood pressure at home twice a day.You have been diagnosed with a heart condition called coronary artery disease.You have a known condition that causes inflammation throughout your body, like rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, or cancer.You are currently taking medications that help reduce inflammation or target specific proteins involved in inflammation.
- Group 1: Portable Air Cleaner (PAC) group
- Group 2: Sham Portable Air Cleaner (PAC) group
- Screening: It may take up to 3 Weeks to process to see if you qualify in this trial.
- Treatment: The duration you will receive the treatment varies.
- Follow Ups: You may be asked to continue sharing information regarding the trial for 6 Months after you stop receiving the treatment.

To participate, patients must be non-smokers (excluding e-cigarettes), have a grasp of English or Spanish, understand the study procedures and give their informed consent; they must also have stable hypertension with systolic blood pressure lower than 160 mm Hg (or 130 mm Hg without antihypertensive medications) and be able to measure it twice daily at home.
