Summary
This trial tests SENSE Theatre, a program using theatre activities to help children with autism improve face memory and social skills. It targets children aged 8 to 16 years who struggle with these areas. The goal is to see if these improvements last and apply to real-life situations. SENSE Theatre® has been previously shown to improve social and communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorder.

Group I: SENSE TheatreExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
SENSE Theatre is a peer-mediated, theatre-based intervention targeting social competence in youth with autism spectrum disorder. The 40 hour intervention is comprised of 10 sessions in which trained typically peers are paired with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Group II: Tackling Teenage TogetherActive Control1 Intervention
The Tackling Teenage Together is a psychosocial and sexual education program developed for youth with ASD. It is comprised of 10 sessions.
