RACE Trial Summary
This trial seeks to improve care of people with unhealthy alcohol use using electronic health records (EHRs), Best Practice Advisories (BPA), clinical decision support (CDS) and support staff such as clinical care managers (CCM) and population health managers (PHM).
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adult primary care physicians and nurse practitioners at Boston Medical Center's General Internal Medicine Clinic. They should expect to remain in their current position for at least 18 months and have had a completed patient visit in the last year and a half.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests how different support tools within electronic health records can help manage unhealthy alcohol use. It compares four methods: Best Practice Advisory (BPA) alone, BPA with Population Health Management (PHM), BPA with Clinical Care Management (CCM), or all three combined.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves organizational interventions rather than medications, traditional side effects are not applicable. However, there may be indirect impacts on workflow or time management for clinicians involved.
