Study Summary

This trial will test the effect of greenwashing tobacco marketing (where products are portrayed as eco-friendly) on young adults' smoking behavior.

Who is the study for?
This study is for young adults aged 18-29 who regularly smoke at least five cigarettes daily. Participants must have certain levels of carbon monoxide or cotinine in their bodies, indicating recent smoking. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, those planning to quit soon, users of only 'roll your own' cigarettes, and individuals with serious health or psychiatric conditions cannot join.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The trial examines how greenwashing—marketing that falsely suggests tobacco products are eco-friendly—affects smoking behavior. It will look at the impact on young adults' perception of product risk and actual cigarette use during controlled lab sessions.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves regular smoking sessions as part of its intervention, potential side effects include those associated with tobacco use such as increased risk for respiratory issues, heart disease, stroke, cancers and addiction.
