Study Summary

This trial will study the difference in fat mass for people who consume sugar-sweetened vs diet beverages, as well as the effect of those beverages on hypothalamic activity.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 20-50 with a BMI of 21.0 to less than 30.0, who regularly drink sugar-sweetened or diet beverages. What is being tested?
The study examines how daily consumption of sugar-sweetened versus diet beverages affects body fat and brain activity related to glucose metabolism over six months. Participants will be monitored for changes in fat mass in various tissues and hypothalamic response after both acute and prolonged beverage intake.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While the trial primarily involves beverage consumption which typically doesn't have severe side effects beyond usual dietary responses (like bloating or digestive discomfort), monitoring will include any potential adverse reactions related to increased sugar or artificial sweetener intake.
