Effectiveness

How Pravastatin Sodium Affects PatientsPravastatin is a medication that works by increasing the expression of certain proteins in the liver which help to reduce the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood. In clinical trials, this drug lowered total cholesterol levels by 18%, LDL by 27%, and triglycerides by 6%. It also increased levels of the good cholesterol (HDL) by 4%. In addition, there was a 24% decrease in the risk of death from coronary disease. Taking pravastatin with cholestyramine can lower LDL levels by as much as 50%, and reduce the risk of heart attack and death.
How Pravastatin Sodium works in the bodyPravastatin decreases cholesterol production in the liver by blocking an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase. This leads to an increase in the number of receptors in cells that take up low-density lipoproteins (LDL). This process also decreases the production of very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL).

When to interrupt dosage

The measure of Pravastatin Sodium is contingent upon the acknowledged complaint, including a conventional cholesterol-lowering diet, Hyperlipidemia and an increase in serum triglyceride levels. The dosage also differs depending on the approach of administration (e.g. Kit; Tablet; Tablet, delayed release - Oral or Kit; Tablet; Tablet, delayed release) specified in the following table.

Pravastatin Sodium for Changes Involving Fatty Deposits in the Blood Vessels
After one year of taking this drug, my cholesterol levels were halved. I also noticed a significant loss of muscle mass in my arms and legs; however, I'm not sure if this was caused by the Lipitor or not. I stopped taking the medication due to soreness and continued muscle loss.

Pravastatin Sodium for High Cholesterol
After reading some of the comments on this site, I'm wondering if my symptoms are caused by the drug. Muscle pain, fatigue, brain fog, hair loss, and dark urine even though I drink primarily water all day. I have been on this drug since 2019 and I've improved drastically since other than said above.

Pravastatin Sodium for High Cholesterol
I have high cholesterol that runs in my family. I was hesitant to try statin drugs, but eventually gave in. Just recently, I realized that the 15 pound weight gain I experienced 11 days after starting this medication was most likely due to the drug itself. I am also experiencing muscle pain, so I will be discontinuing use of it.
