Study Summary

This trial will study the potential health benefits of a product containing chardonnay marc, which is the solid residue left over from wine-making. The trial will collect data on how the product affects cardiometabolic health and the gut microbiome, and will assess the response of selected outcomes after 6 hours of flavanol intake.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults with a BMI of 25-35 who have poor vascular response (RHI < 2.0) and can follow the study plan. It's not for heavy chocolate eaters, those with certain health conditions like heart disease or anemia, people taking blood thinners or supplements, vegans/vegetarians, or anyone allergic to nuts, cocoa, grapes.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?

Participants will try low/high flavanol cocoa powder and various servings of chocolate to see if there are benefits after 6 hours—longer than past studies on cocoa flavanols.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects aren't specified but could include typical food-related reactions such as allergies or gastrointestinal discomfort due to the ingredients in the tested products.
